Out of the box, the iPhone 12 Pro Max runs on iOS 14, which, in addition to it, was also received by older models up to the iPhone 6S. Accordingly, one can hope that the new Pro Max will receive long-term and high-quality software support.
Of the new, application management can be noted separately. You can now prevent individual apps from accessing locations or block access to photos, except for selected images. Widgets may not be displayed on the home screen all the time, but only at a selected time – for example, while you are at work.
- Wireless & Navigation – now with 5G
For the first time, iPhones received 5G support. Unfortunately, European versions of Apple smartphones do not support mmWave 5G – the faster part of the standard, while Canadian and American models have this technology. At the moment, there is really no corresponding infrastructure in Europe, but it will appear in the near future, therefore we do not understand such a step by the manufacturer.
- Camera – enlarged photosensor and space technologies
If we judge purely by the characteristics, then the camera in the iPhone 12 Pro Max has changed in comparison with its predecessor quite minimally. The module still has three 12-megapixel cameras. However, the main sensor now has a larger aperture of the optics and therefore better light sensitivity, and the additional LiDAR sensor is designed to improve the quality of portrait shots and night shots. Video recording is possible in 4K at 60 fps, hybrid zoom is available with seamless switching between the two cameras while shooting.
